Choosing Graphite or Charcoal??
Graphite pencils are typically more suitable for smaller drawings over charcoal and is therefor easier for drawing smaller details or in sketchpads on the go.
Charcoal pencils consist of charcoal powder mixed with a gum binder. This concoction is then compressed into sticks or encased in wood. It is one of the oldest art mediums, having been used by cavemen in their drawings. Charcoal is best used to create high-impact images and to draw photorealistic portraits.
