This comprehensive kit includes a wide range of Octopus sensors and step-by-step tutorials, enabling students and makers to build dozens of exciting digital projects. It’s an ideal resource for exploring electronics, coding, and design through practical, project-based learning.

The ElecFreaks Octopus:bit is an expansion board designed to extend the micro:bit’s capabilities. It breaks out the GPIO, serial, I2C, and SPI ports, making it easier to connect various modules. A standout feature is its ability to shift voltage levels on select GPIO pins, allowing compatibility with 5V sensors—opening up even more possibilities for creative experimentation and real-world applications.

Plant Monitoring Device : Upload your code into the micro:bit and stick that moisture sensor into the base of your plant. You pots will be able to tell you when your plants are thirsty!
Music Machine: Since there are 5 buttons, we need to code 5 similar conditional statements. Each button controls a sound of a particular pitch. So press each buttion, we will get sounds of different pitches.
Electro-Theremin: We want to make sure the highest potentiometer value still corresponds to the highest note we can play. Check out the value of the lowest and highest notes in the micro:bit piano keys. Twist the knob to control alien noises!

The smart pet feeder operates as follows: the PIR sensor detects the presence of a pet nearby, while the sonar:bit ensures the pet is within 20 cm of the wooden house. When both conditions are met, the servo rotates, tipping the pet food storage box to dispense food. Once the food is dispensed, the servo returns to its original position, ready for the next feeding cycle.

This kit is designed to inspire creativity and develop hands-on skills in primary and secondary school students. By programming the feeder's operations, students enhance their understanding of coding, sensor integration, and real-world problem-solving while creating a functional and fun project.
