FIMO was the first modelling clay that could be hardened in the oven. The clay was developed in the mid-20th century. Back then, world-renowned doll maker, Käthe Kruse, set out to develop a suitable clay that could be used to model dolls’ heads with as much detail as possible. These clays are not just ideal for art, spare time and hobbies, but also for teaching purposes for crafting in kindergartens or schools. Not only do they encourage children to develop creativity and imagination, but also their spatial reasoning and fine motor skills.
The hardened modelling clay can be varnished with special FIMO lacquers and painted with suitable pens or with suitable plasticiser-resistant acrylic and oil paints. There is also a range of Fimo air-drying clays.
Modelling is easy and fun with Fimo Light Modelling Clay. It's ready to use from the packet and dries in the air so no need to bake in an oven. With ease of use, you can quickly get to creating your own designs with this extremely lightweight, neutral smelling modelling clay.
It can be used for moulding, sculpting, shaping, cutting, rolling and texturing. Once you've created your design, you can add embellishment to your modelling clay with glues, paints and varnishes too, allowing you to create something totally unique.
