Picture of Rough Cut Laser Engraving Slate Sign

Rough Cut Laser Engraving Slate Sign

    KI 5520
These stylish high quality natural rough-cut vertical slate signs, measuring 200mm x 150mm, look great hanging in a window, on a wall or anywhere else you might care to put up a sign. Not only do they look stylish and sleek, but they are also durable, and practical, and will naturally draw the eye wherever they are put. Although stone/slate cannot be cut with a CO2 laser, they can be laser engraved, which makes for a unique long-term sign. They can also be written on with chalk for information of a more temporary nature, when done just give them a wipe with warm water, with a touch of detergent if heavily soiled, and they are as good as new. Supplied as a pack of 1.

Made from natural slate these stylish signs will maintain their look long-term, but if they do start to fade with age, they can be brought back to life with a little olive oil. Alternatively, a coat of lacquer can really make a difference to the hue, though we are still determining if this will make use with chalk less than perfect. A coat of lacquer, prior to laser engraving, will also help to improve the contrast of the laser engraving.

  • These stylish high-quality natural rough-cut vertical slate signs will look great in any location.
  • They are durable, practical, and resistant to scratching and staining.
  • Personalise them with CO2 laser engraving, a coat of lacquer will help improve the contrast.
  • They can easily be wiped clean with warm water, or warm water mixed with a small amount of mild detergent.
  • The perfect gift for someone special!
  • If they fade over time they can easily be brought back to life with a little olive oil.
  • An even coat of lacquer can have a dramatic positive effect on their look.

Picture of 3mm Laser Compatible White Painted MDF 400 x 300mm Sheet

3mm Laser Compatible White Painted MDF 400 x 300mm Sheet

    KI 32176
These 3mm laser-compatible white-painted MDF sheets, measuring 400mm x 300mm, offer all the same qualities as the standard MDF lines but with a nicer finish. This comes into its own when laser engraving, as there will be a nice contrast between the white finish and the underlying MDF material. One side of these MDF sheets is painted and the other is a standard MDF finish. The laser MDFs are EU class E1, which means low formaldehyde emissions. It is this low formaldehyde emission that makes this MDF suitable for laser cutting.

This product conforms to E1 (low) formaldehyde levels as well as also complying with the lower levels required by CARB phase 2 (CARB Phase 2 compliant <0.11ppm). This product is often described as 'Laser Grade' MDF but there is no official classification for this. We believe that E1 conforming MDF is the safest and best MDF for use in a laser cutter.

  • These are high-quality MDF sheets with a white paint finish.
  • Suitable for use with a laser cutter.
  • When laser engraving, the white paint finish provides a great contrast to the MDF underneath.
  • Low formaldehyde emissions.
  • Suitable for use in internal dry conditions
  • Highly versatile.

This plywood uses an EN314-2 Class 1 glue which is suitable for Interior (dry) conditions. Interior glue is generally considered the preferred option for materials that are to be laser cut. This is because the exterior glues can cause a more obvious 'burnt' look on and around the area that is cut. Poplar is a cultivated wood that grows quickly, which makes it a very sustainable product.

  • Low-density poplar plywood sheet (laserply) for easier laser cutting.

Picture of Brown Laserable Faux Leather 600mm x 300mm

    Brown Laserable Faux Leather 600mm x 300mm

    KI 5522
These Colorado Brown Laserable Faux Leather Savana sheets, measuring 600mm x 300mm, are perfect for expanding the finishing options for any maker. They are a rustic brown colour, two-tone, and have a distressed look that is soft to the touch and very leather-like. This material is suitable for a laser cutter.

As this material can be cut with a laser, it can easily be cut to any size or shape required. It can be used for a wide variety of applications, such as; seating/upholstery or adding a unique and striking finish to a project. It could also be used for labels, keyrings, or tags, as shown in the product photos. The faux leather can then either be sewn, stuck, or pinned into place in much the same way as leather can.

If this material is to be used for seating covers it is going to be susceptible to getting dirty. Any loose dirt can easily be hoovered or gently dusted with a cloth. Care should be taken as excessive abrasion can mar the material. Wet stains should be dealt with immediately, by mopping up any liquid with a lint-free cloth. If further cleaning is required, clean with neutral soap and water using smooth, circular movements. Then, rinse with water.

This material is safe for indoor use as it is fire retardant to contract level Crib5 as standard and also passes the IMO 8 marine fire standard for indoor seating.

    Note:
  • Faux Leather is a man-made product and therefore, repeat patterns may be noticeable within the product.
  • Colour variations can occur from batch to batch.
  • If you have any concerns about the suitability of this product, please contact our customer services team who will be happy to help you assess its suitability for your needs.

Picture of 4mm Oak Veneered MDF 300mm x 200mm Sheet

    4mm Oak Veneered MDF 300mm x 200mm Sheet

    KI 32102
High-quality A/B grade Oak Veneered MDF panel measuring 300mm x 200mm. Ideal for structural projects requiring a high-quality appearance and finish on both the topside and panelling. Suitable for laser cutting. This MDF panel is veneered on both faces of the sheet: A grade veneer on the front and B grade on the reverse.

Please note: As wood is a natural product, there is often a crook or bow to the sheet. The natural twist might be in excess of 10mm (see below - Tolerances and Caution). A wood veneer is not like an artificial surface such as melamine or a laminate. It is cut from the log and therefore has its own unique grain, texture, and colour.

A Grade Veneer is a very high-quality grading (typically the best you will see). The surface of the material will be consistent in appearance with no large variations in colour. Small pin knots are allowed and these would typically be only a few mm in diameter. This grade veneer is on the topside of this MDF sheet.

The B Grade Veneer underside shows the natural look of the veneer. There will be changes in colour that show the grain pattern. Sound, smooth knots are allowed and these will typically be under 15mm to 35mm in diameter (depending on the countries grading rules). The surface should normally be free from open knots and plugs. The material should be suitable for paint/stain or a lacquered finish.

There are two different cuts that can be used in veneer production:
  • 'Quarter Cut' are cut at 90 degrees, producing the effect of a straight grain.
  • 'Crown Cut' are sliced through the log, producing 'Crowns' and adding more character to the finish (as used on this product). This product conforms to E1 (low) formaldehyde levels and is often described as 'Laser Grade' MDF but there is no official classification for this. We believe that E1 conforming MDF is the safest and best MDF for using in a laser cutter.

  • Features:
  • A/B grade Oak Veneered finish.
  • Veneer thickness approximately 0.5mm.
  • High-quality wood and veneer, for great-looking finishes.
  • MDF core.
  • Suitable for use in internal dry conditions as defined in EN 622 parts 1 and 5 and conforms to EN13986.
  • Low formaldehyde emissions.

  • Dimensions:
  • Length: 300mm.
  • Width: 200mm.
  • Height: 4mm.
  • Veneer thickness (approximately): 0.5mm.

  • Tolerances: The manufacturing tolerance for the thickness of veneered MDF sheets includes the tolerance for both the MDF and the veneer. The total combined thickness of both the MDF and the veneer could be as little as 3.35mm and as much as 4.65mm. The veneer on each face could be as thin as 0.25mm and as thick as 0.75mm.

Caution: As wood is a natural product there is often a bow or crook to the MDF, and in some cases a twist. We have measured in excess of 10mm rise between the flat centre of the MDF and the corner. l. If you are using this product on a laser cutter; these sheets should be strapped/taped to the laser bed before cutting.
