The VEX Pin Tool makes working with VEX GO and VEX IQ pins and plastic even easier. Use the Pin Tool just as you would a pair of pliers. Simply place the tool over the pin you want to remove, squeeze, and pull!

The Pin Tool has two other useful features on its handles. One side can be used to pry two beams apart, while the other can be used to push out pins (such as a 0x2 capped connector) that the tool would normally not be able to grab.

VEX Rubber Bands have dozens of uses on a robot. Their spring-like properties make them perfect for latches, triggers, and return mechanisms. EPDM Rubber Bands and Synthetic Rubber Bands work better for high elongation uses, while Silicone Rubber Bands have a higher coefficient of friction against many types of plastic, enabling your intake mechanisms to grip objects easier.

Practice on the same surface you will be competing on! The field's snap-together construction allows for assembly inminutes. Note:Starting with the 2020 - 2021 competition season, the official VEX IQ Challenge field will increase in size from a 4' x 8 field' to a 6' x 8' field. Pneumatics deliver fast and powerful linear motion that is useful in a variety of applications. Use pneumatics to power your robot's claw, intake deployment, or any mechanism that requires quick motion. In particular, pneumatics are useful in applications requiring only two positions (open/closed, up/down, etc.)

The IQ Optical Sensor is a combination of ambient light, color, proximity and gesture sensor.
Color information is available as RGB, hue and saturation or grayscale.
Color detection works best when the object is closer than 100mm.
The proximity sensor measures reflected light intensity, and as such, the values will change with ambient light and object reflectivity.
The Optical Sensor has a white LED to assist color detection in low light conditions.
The gesture sensor can detect one of four possible gestures, an object (hand or otherwise) moving up, down, left or right over the sensor.
The IQ Optical Sensor works with both IQ Robot Brains (1st and 2nd generation).
