Zest-it

Use Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner as an alternative to turpentine and white spirit. Get away from the toxicity and flammability of these products with Zest-it and its pleasant citrus smell.

Use for thinning oil paint for the first layer, grisaille or under-painting and it dries without leaving any residue. Also works with oil paint sticks, wax and oil based inks.

Excellent for cleaning brushes without drying them out and making them brittle. Can also be used for cleaning palettes, equipment and the oil paint from your hands. Wash with soap and water after using.

Zest-it® Citrus Free Solvent is ideal for those oil painters who wish a little more 'bite' to their solvent, prefer a non-citrus smell and a slightly stronger action than the original Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner. Just like the original Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner, it leaves no residue of itself in your work, however, it has a slightly faster drying time because it is without the citrus element. Use it as a solvent, a diluent, a medium and for brush cleaning.

The Zest-it Citrus Free Solvent is a much safer solvent for oil painters than Gum Turpentine and makes an excellent replacement because it is non-toxic and non-flammable. The solvent is just as easy to use as the original Zest-it Brush Cleaner and can be used in just the same way. The Aliphatic Hydrocarbon has a slight solvent odour because it contains no Aromatics or CFC's, has low VOC's and is kinder to the environment. It can travel by road, sea and air, therefore an excellent accompaniment if you are going on a painting holiday. It is re-usable, which makes it economical and a little goes a long way.

Use it as a medium for mixing with Linseed Stand Oil and Cold Pressed Linseed Oil to make your own painting mediums. Your painting medium will be easier to make-up if you add the Linseed Oil to the Zest-it Citrus Free Solvent and not the other way round. Linseed oils are very viscous and it takes a decent amount of 'agitation' for the two products to mix together thoroughly. Painting mediums can be a personal 'thing' and the ratio of the mix is not fixed. If you are unsure, as a suggestion, try a 50/50 mix and adjust the proportions from there.

Fine Grain Marble Dust is a UK-made, high-purity calcium carbonate (100 mesh) ideal for adding body and texture to your artwork. Mix it with cold wax to build impasto marks, blend into gesso or PVA for a grittier painting surface, or apply it to paper with gelatine, gesso or PVA to create a beautifully “toothy” ground for pastels. Chemically inert and non-hazardous, it has been used for centuries in traditional gesso and other painting preparations.

The Zest-it Linseed Stand Oil is for use with oil colour to improve the consistency and flow of oil paint. Sourced from renewable. managed resources with almost neutral pH and highly filtered for clean bright fluid.

A clear viscous drying oil that levels brush marks, drying to a tough elastic film. faster drying than most ‘Stand Oils’ and without the use of ‘metallic dryers’.

Can be mixed with Zest-it Solvent or Brush Cleaner up to 50%, paint film dries in 24/48 hours depending on ambient conditions.

Wash hands after use.

The Zest-it Clear Painting Medium which is a mix of Linseed Stand Oil and Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner. It dries to a strong clear flexible film.

Use to thin oil paint to improve the flow of the paint, to level out the brush marks and for glazing, with non-yellowing properties. Also for painting wet-in-wet and with oil pastels, bars and wax. Has an ‘enamel like’ finish and without added varnish, maintaining the ‘fat over lean’ principal.

Touch dry in 12 to 24 hours depending on ambient temperature. Can be further thinned with Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner.

The Lean Painting Medium is for used in the first layers of an oil painting, gives an excellent flexible 'key' and stable foundation for further oil work.

The New Zest-it Glazing Medium Light is a mix of Zest-it Brush Cleaner, Damar Varnish and Linseed Stand Oil. Use to thin transparent oil paint for glazing, only a small amount is needed. Zest-it Glazing Medium will improve the flow of oil paint, levels the brush marks and dried to a glossy flexible film with non-yellowing properties. Mix with oil paint to a thin soupy consistency apply in thin layers.

Touch dry in 12 to 24 hours depending on the ambient conditions.

Zest-it Damar Picture Varnish is Gum Damar dissolved in Zest-it.

Makes an ideal final picture varnish, touch dry in 1 to 2 hours, dries to an elastic, hard, clear in about two days.

When put on thinly gives a low gloss. Apply coats thinly allowing drying in between.
