Raspberry Pi Camera Adapter for Pi Zero

The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is the latest board in the Raspberry Pi Zero family, with a quad-core processor offering a 40% increase in single-threaded performance and 5x times more multi-threaded performance than the previous single-core Raspberry Pi Zero W! The successor to the breakthrough Zero W, Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is a drop-in replacement for the original board, with the same form factor, connectors and mounting holes. The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W incorporates a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1GHz. At its heart is a Raspberry Pi RP3A0 system-in-package (SiP), integrating a Broadcom BCM2710A1 die with 512MB of LPDDR2 SDRAM. This upgraded package provides the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with its generous increase in performance. Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W continues to offer 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN and Bluetooth (now 4.2), along with support for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and modular compliance certification.

The new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 has a MicroSD card slot for the Raspberry Pi Operating System, a CSI-2 camera connector, a USB On-The-Go (OTG) port and an unpopulated footprint for a HAT-compatible 40-pin GPIO header. Video output is via a mini HDMI port; composite video output is available via the board's test points if needed. The Zero 2 is powered via a micro-USB socket and requires a 5V 2.5A power supply just like previous generations.

The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 is the latest entry in the Official Raspberry Pi range of camera modules, offering a new 12 Megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor, powered autofocus, improved low-light sensitivity and HDR (High Dynamic Range) support for your Raspberry Pi projects!

The module is capable of 4608x2592 pixel images and 4608x2592 @14 FPS/2304x1296 @56 FPS/1536x864 @120FPS video. When HDR is enabled, the resolution is limited to 2304x1296 @ 30 FPS.

Accessories

The Camera Module 3 is mechanically identical to the previous Camera Module V2 apart from the front sensor section. The new sensor is larger and may not fit all previous camera accessories. We have updated all of our camera accessories with compatibility information in the descriptions.

Software

The Camera Module 3 can only be used with libcamera - the previous raspistill/raspivid libraries will not work

You will need to update Raspberry Pi OS as the Camera Module 3 requires a new driver and a specific version of libcamera

The Raspberry Pi Sense HAT V2 is the perfect product to learn about programming and how we interact with the world around us. With its full array of sensors, the Sense HAT was originally developed for use on the International Space Station, as part of the educational Astro Pi programme run by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in partnership with the European Space Agency.

It is well suited to many projects that require position, motion, orientation, or environmental sensing. The Sense HAT is powered by the Raspberry Pi computer to which it is connected.

An officially supported Python library provides access to all of the on-board sensors, the LED matrix, and the joystick. The Sense HAT is compatible with any Raspberry Pi computer with a 40-pin GPIO header.

The incredible new High Quality (HQ) Camera module from Raspberry Pi offers a higher resolution (12 megapixels, compared to 8 megapixels), and sensitivity than the previous Camera Module v2. It features a Sony IMX477 sensor, a 200mm FPC cable for connection to your Raspberry Pi, a milled aluminium lens mount with integrated 1/4” -20 tripod mount and focus adjustment ring, and a C- to CS-mount adapter. A lens cover is also included with the module and comes pre-fitted. There’s even a small screwdriver in the box for making adjustments. It’s designed to work with interchangeable lenses in both C- and CS-mount form factors giving you ultimate flexibility with your Raspberry Pi camera projects. A C-CS mount adapter comes pre-fitted to the module.

Familiar coding
The High Quality (HQ) Camera uses the same commands as the standard Raspberry Pi Camera Module, such as libcamera (or raspistill/raspivid if you're using Buster or an even older OS image). Libcamera and similar commands will query the camera firmware for the resolution of the sensors (as they already do today) and will default to 12 megapixels for the High Quality Camera. The drivers for the High Quality (HQ) Camera are built-in to Raspberry Pi OS too, so upgrading your camera project with the High Quality Camera is a simple task.
