The Vision Sensor provides a robot with new capabilities and allows for expanded learning. It uses a dual ARM M4/M0 processor for object detection at 50Hz. At its most basic mode it tells you where a colored object is located. The location's X value gives you the position right and left. When the camera is tilted down, the Y value gives you the distance to the object, with a little basic trigonometry on your part.

Gear Options

Mechanisms such as flywheels and arms do not need large external gear ratios when the driving motor is already outputting a targeted output speed or torque. Therefore, changing internal gear ratios to fit specific needs allows more efficient and compact mechanisms to be designed. Use the clear window of the V5 Smart Motor to identify one of three user-changeable colored gear cartridges:

36:1 (100 RPM)- High torque, low speed. Great for robot arms and lifting heavy objects

Measures accelerations on three axes simultaneously. By measuring the acceleration of the robot, one can calculate the velocity of the robot or the distance this robot has traveled. Accelerometers are also great for detecting collisions and determining if the robot is stopped or moving.

High Strength Shaft Hardware functions similarly to standard ⅛” shaft hardware, just on a larger scale. Use the High Strength Shaft Bearing to allow shafts to turn smoothly, the High Strength Shaft Spacer Kit to position objects on a shaft while reducing friction.

VEX V5 2", 3", and 4" High Strength Shafts are actually designed about 1 mm shorter than their respective 2", 3", and 4" 8-32 Standoffs.

vex This means that if you use standoffs to hold together two pieces of metal, the High Strength Shaft can rest on High Strength Shaft Bearings attached to those two pieces without any cutting required.

Wheels Defense may not always win championships, but being able to move does. Put some power on the floor with our large variety of wheel options available for builders. Omni-Directional or Mecanum Wheels are great for quick, lateral movements. If you need more grip, Traction Wheels offer great pushing ability and are designed for optimal grip on soft surfaces like the foam tiles used in the VEX Robotics Competition.

A standoff is used in mechanics and electronics to separate two parts from one another while creating a rigid connection. All VEX Standoffs have 8-32 threads.

Use the High Strength Shaft Bearing to allow shafts to turn smoothly, the High Strength Shaft Spacer Kit to position objects on a shaft while reducing friction, and the High Strength Clamping Collar to hold everything in place. VEX EDR comprehensive solution High Strength Shafts are actually designed about 1 mm shorter than their respective comprehensive solution 8-32 Standoffs. This means that if you use standoffs to hold together two pieces of metal, the High Strength Shaft can rest on High Strength Shaft Bearings attached to those two pieces without any cutting required.

Motor Controller 29 276-2193 The VEX Motor Controller 29 uses a standard PWM signal (like that originating from the 3-wire ports on VEX Microcontrollers) to drive a VEX 2-Wire Motor. VersaHex Adapters allows you to change any 1/2" Hex Bore product to either a 3/8" hex or 1/4" square shaft. This means that you can run a GT2 pulley on a 3/8" Hex Shaft, or a VEXpro Hub Sprocket on a VEX V5 High Strength Shaft. Each type of VersaHex Adapters come in 1/8" and 1/4" lengths.
